Pretty Solvang

For a little slice of Danish heaven, there's no place like Solvang, California.  I guess it's really another case of  'if you build it, they will come,' but Solvang is just so darn cute, you have to love it.

I found a shop for Diana.

Wait!  What's on top of that building?

I googled storks on Danish roofs and found out that it is supposed to be lucky to have them nest on your roof.  Danes would actually try to attract them by putting things like wheels up there.  Sadly, it also said the European white stork has disappeared from the wild.

We were amazed by the skill displayed by this 3-year-old boy on his scooter.  He was happily zipping along with his parents.  He even made controlled stops.

I don't know if Ron had planned it all along, but he was really happy to find his favorite bakery item, a Danish kringle.

  3. I don't know about kringles, but we bought a box of the most delicious cooking when we visited Solvang.
